They need to improve the commands. For example: It would be nice to say, "Alexa, play The Walking Dead Season 3 episode 4." How about, "Alexa turn the volume up 10 times." The providers also need to get on board with making their content Echo friendly. The biggest area that Alexa still has to grow in home automation is the A/V interface.

Essentially it is MENU-LESS. Could catch on for avid TV and Movie watchers.

When are you folks at CNET going to realize that watching your Alexa content causes headaches for your viewers with Alexa devices?

Reminds me of that episode of doctor who where strange black cubes appear all over earth overnight. Nobody knows what they really do but everyone eventually just starts to accept them as normal and starts bringing them into their homes as decorations. It isn’t until years later that their nefarious purposes are revealed, sit and collect data to build up a profile of our species’ weaknesses so that an attack against us can be coordinated.

Not that this sounds at all relevant to amazon echo devices, I’m sure the aesthetic resemblance is merely a coincidence…

Remember the stress inducing fun of searching for the remote & instead using broomstick with rubber glove at the end of it? Man we sure getting lazier…

I was watching this video on a computer which is connected to a TV with a HD Fire stick and an Alexa device in the kitchen. The Fire stick changed the channel to the monitor to Fire TV's home page, while in the Kitchen Alexa was saying "Hmmm, I don't know how to do that." Weird.

The Amazon website claims that the cube has "Ethernet support", but that's only if you use the included Amazon Ethernet Adapter since the cube does not have an actual Ethernet port: "Ports: HDMI 2.0a, Power, Micro USB, Wired Infrared support"

this is actually very genius. i hope google & apple will end up doing the same thing as this.
imagine having a google home mini or your apple tv end up acting as a voice assistant at the same time

A bit bulky looking for a fire TV upgrade. Especially if your TV is wall mounted.
