I've had two touchscreen laptops (not the convertible/hybrid ones) before switching to Macbook pro and I find the touchscreen of the prior almost useless. If it isn't a hybrid/convertible notebook, touchscreen doesn't really matter that much. What matter is a butter smooth large touchpad with multitouch gestures which will make you live without a mouse unless the task really requires precision.

As a VideoEditor I still love my MacBook Pro since I don't touch and cover what I'm looking at or doing.

Touch screen computers are not so good notion. This forces the users to every time interrupt their typing work and touch on the Screen. But, if it is launched by #Apple, people will accept it.

Here's my 2¢, touch screens on laptops and desktops is stupid. If Apple brought touch displays to macs that means their iMacs will also need be touch screen and nobody wants to be reaching up to the top of a 21" monitor. Not to mention one hand is on the keyboard and the other hand is on the mouse, and with multitouch gestures on the trackpads there's not much reason to even touch the display.

Why does the Air even still exist? It has largely been superseded by other laptops and tablets in the Apple range.

Mac OS is simply not designed for touch. Touch is also only really useful on a 2-in-1 device. This is why few laptops are touch screen only.

This product just looks like a piece of crap however you cut it.

But why??? if you need a laptop with touch screen, just buy one with touch screen capabilities… make sure if you only need a good for nothing inconvenient status symbol laptop that makes you looks rich THEN you buy a macbook… it's that simple people…

But is it multi-touch or just one touch? So no advantage over a trackpad really.
I would like it for controlling synths on screen or faders within Logic so that i don´t need an iPhone, iPad or hardware controller if i don´t want or have the time to connect that all together.
It is a gimmick but future versions of such tools could work much better.
But Apple will find a way to make it unusable via software because someone could cut their iPad sales 😉

No! Just no! Don't touch a Mac screen! It's the worst thing you can do and it's my biggest pet peeve! Apple is intentionally not creating touch screens on Macs because it is just not practical. Get yourself a tablet if you want to touch a screen so badly…

I'm not gonna lie, this product seems pretty impressive. However, that being said, a touchscreen laptop is counterintuitive. Touch screens are only really comfortable to use at certain angles. Also, using a desktop operation system requires more accuracy than a mobile device that is made specifically for using your fingers and without the use of a mouse and pointer.
